[Wendy Harrison (Chair)]: Good afternoon. We are starting bit late. It's more quite long. Today is March 18 and this meeting will be a short one where we have gathered to look at the miscellaneous judiciary bill S-one 193. We do not have possession of the bill. I understand that there is at least one amendment coming, possibly a second amendment. One of our members is on that debate, so Senator Benson, do you mind letting us So know what
[John Benson (Member)]: senator Lyons presented the bill was marked up. I asked whether that was the same markup that we here at institutions had looked at yesterday. And she said, basically, with a minor change, which, quite frankly, when she went through it, I didn't really see any real change from what we had looked at yesterday. She said that she had conferred with you, Doctor. And then she indicated that, again, health and welfare, just like institutions, doesn't have jurisdiction over the bill, but that she was going to propose to make the amendment from the floor and ask the committee if they were willing to sign on, and most of the committees said yes. I said because I sit on two committees, I felt I would reserve until after institutions talked about it, so I'm not kind of in between two positions, and she said, Fine. But essentially it looked the same to me as what he talked about yesterday with the yellow highlighting and the green highlighted pieces.
[Wendy Harrison (Chair)]: Perfect, thank you. And yes, it's my understanding is that the language is basically what we heard yesterday. And so our process will be that any of us who wish to support the amendment will sign out individually.
[John Benson (Member)]: It won't
[Wendy Harrison (Chair)]: be a committee action. It will be that. So, the timing and the coordination is the challenge. I don't want to throw it out. If anyone has any questions for the witnesses, thank you for being here.

[John Benson (Member)]: were, we felt we could get them right away. Exactly. Go on the committee page of We did.
[Unidentified Committee Member]: The one that's there was the same one that we looked at yesterday, I know we had talked about some changes in the effective dates of some sections.
[Wendy Harrison (Chair)]: Right, and there were, and there was one more change, that was a minimal change.
[John Benson (Member)]: Okay. And I can't jog at the top of my head what it was, it was very minor.
[Wendy Harrison (Chair)]: It was more just clarification of the goals of the new system. So, what Well, it'll be passed over. I also heard that health and welfare might be looking at it Friday morning, which that was a surprise to me.
[John Benson (Member)]: That's news to me because as I say, she asked, you know, who would support it, presented it, and indicated she wants to know by the end of the day. So that would be strange if a point of making another further changes.
[Wendy Harrison (Chair)]: Yes. And I didn't hear this from her. So, let us, we don't have it, so we can't make choices now. I expect that I will sign off on it. We will have a meeting tomorrow. We do have a walk through, I believe. The house bill that came over. Again, we don't know when people meet tomorrow because we're having these long floor sessions, but obviously you will know because you will be on them. So unless anyone has anything else, we can adjourn. Anyone?

[Unidentified Committee Member]: Does it have a date and time? That's what I most asked yesterday. Yeah.
[John Benson (Member)]: Yeah. So that's, two days. Yeah. All
[Wendy Harrison (Chair)]: right. So we have confirmed that we do not have an update. So we will, everyone good before you turn? Okay.
