[Rep. Martin LaLonde (Chair)]: We are live. Welcome back to the House Judiciary Committee. We have a motion in the committee to to vote out favorably version 4.1 of the s one nine three. Coach Christie is not able to vote anymore remotely because he's used his three days. And I assume, representative Oliver, that you wanna use one of your three days to vote remotely on this. We're not hearing you. Say that again. Can you hear me? Yeah, now we can hear you. Oh, okay.
[Rep. Thomas Oliver (Member)]: Sorry. Yes, I would like to. Okay. Alright. Fair enough.
[Rep. Martin LaLonde (Chair)]: So we have that motion. Is there any discussion? I see. I mean, I understand I understand the the motion. I think we've been putting a lot of work to try to get this to a place that we can get through into the senate. And I think the versions that are being worked on right now will will get us there. So I'm gonna vote no and continue our work and and hopefully have another version to vote on then tomorrow. So any other discussion, Bert can call the roll.
[Rep. Thomas Burditt (Vice Chair)]: I just had one, I guess, two points. I think one, in the best interest of Vermonters, and I mean, we're getting tons of emails about this in trying to address the public safety crisis in the state. The need as I've said, since we started taking testimony on this bill, the need for the forensic facility is not a point of debate. It's completely evident. And like I said in my previous conference chair, is that I feel up until version 4.1, we're making great progress under your leadership. And I think you were really trying to take a very measured approach. I think other chairs and other committees have totally diverted that road of progress. And so for that reason, and to listen to constituents, to help solve the problem, and to really, I think serve the best interests of the chair and the committee, I'll be voting yes for version 4.1.
[Rep. Martin LaLonde (Chair)]: I understand. And with respect to the other committees, I'm still working. Public safety is my number one issue with this. And I have continued to press that and press DOC involvement and such. And think we're getting there and need to have this process played out a little bit further. But I think we're on the same page as far as what we're trying to get at, perhaps different view of the app, the patent to get there.
[Rep. Thomas Burditt (Vice Chair)]: Well, I think the final point too is that my key concern is the feasibility study. Because I think that the need is so great for this very small population that I think removing that is probably the best course of action.
[Rep. Martin LaLonde (Chair)]: Fair enough. Yeah, I understand. So the clerk can call him home. What do I do about a coach? Just if he's Don't say anything. Just put an absent. Arsenault? No. Dolan? No. No. I was saying, yeah. Harvey? Yes. Malay?
[Rep. Alicia Malay (Member)]: Yes. Oliver? No. Rachelson? No.
[Rep. Barbara Rachelson (Member)]: Chris? Absent. Burditt? Yes. Galan?
[Rep. Martin LaLonde (Chair)]: No. Okay. So the vote is five-five, so the motion failed, but thank you. And we will continue to work on this tomorrow after the floor. And as soon as I have what will hopefully be the final version, I will get this distributed to everybody. We need to try to move this out to get it into conference committee over the senate. And so really gonna try to get this. It may not be perfect, but we need to because I know that's gonna be a next step since the conference will be able. So alright. We're adjourned until tomorrow on the hour and forth. We'll go see if Jays had a chance to drop you in the
