[Rep. Theresa Wood (Chair)]: Okay. Good afternoon. Thank you for coming back. So this seems like a little bit of an unusual end of session kind of time for us. We are busy doing policy work right up to the end. And today is no different, but we're under timeframes that need to move bills along. This bill needs to get to ways and means, even though they are taking testimony, if they need possession of the bill. So we had discussion yesterday a little bit. I floated the idea of utilizing the increase in fees to fund an enforcement position at the Department of the Current Lottery. Right now, the Department of the Current Lottery says they don't need a position. We may or may not agree with that, some of us. But Doug actually has proposed some language. So Doug, why don't you review that language for us?

[Rep. Doug Bishop (Member)]: Sure, so this would gather additional information for us so we can make an assessment.

[Rep. Theresa Wood (Chair)]: It's on Doug, I'm sorry. Dan, you have a copy of it right In

[Rep. Doug Bishop (Member)]: light of the department saying that they have sufficient resources, we're weighing that versus our high priority for the public health impact and our concern for the targeting of youth. This is an effort to gather some additional information regarding their enforcement capacity so that this body, this committee next year could make an assessment as to whether we need to increase that enforcement capacity. And this is in lieu of putting into the bill an additional position this year. That was the intent by suggesting this.

[Unidentified committee member]: Yeah, go ahead. Thank you for the interesting. So just to clarify, instead of implementing the position now, let's get a Boston capacity report, then make a decision on what the next step may be.

[Rep. Doug Bishop (Member)]: Yes. Right. Great. Thank you.

[Unidentified committee member]: And so does it include the AG's office?

[Rep. Doug Bishop (Member)]: Is

[Unidentified committee member]: Yeah, a consult

[Rep. Doug Bishop (Member)]: they PLL to consult with the office Right, of attorney

[Unidentified committee member]: but where the position should be?

[Rep. Doug Bishop (Member)]: Well, this doesn't speak to

[Rep. Theresa Wood (Chair)]: This is only for

[Rep. Doug Bishop (Member)]: making a request. It's really for us to gain information, and we would make that decision. So where in either place. It could be in either place because I know that DLL has expressed that they believe that where a position may be necessary is the AG's office. So I don't think they're going to Number four.

[Rep. Theresa Wood (Chair)]: To Dan, I'm saying this. Yeah, where the position is. There it is.

[Rep. Doug Bishop (Member)]: Yeah, okay, thank you.

[Rep. Theresa Wood (Chair)]: No, it's just should have it memorized.

[Rep. Doug Bishop (Member)]: Put it together. Yeah.

[Rep. Theresa Wood (Chair)]: I think it's I'm grateful a

[Rep. Doug Bishop (Member)]: for this, thank you, because I think it's a good way to go around the-

[Rep. Theresa Wood (Chair)]: I do do too.

[Unidentified committee member]: And I don't, we, regardless, the enforcement position likely wouldn't be needed until later on. So I don't think anything is lost by getting all the information before making a decision. Yeah.

[Rep. Theresa Wood (Chair)]: All right, does anybody have any additional questions about this? Thank you, Doug. Yeah.

[Rep. Doug Bishop (Member)]: Thanks, Doug.

[Rep. Theresa Wood (Chair)]: Appreciate the work. So, Doug, I'm gonna ask you to send that to Jen and let her know we'd like that included in the next draft. I don't know how long does anybody remember how long the speaker said we would 20. Twenty minutes, and that was about ten minutes ago. So we have the next draft of the bill to vote on. Depending upon how the next version of the floor goes, we'll see whether or not If we get to move through and are able to be back here by 04:30, then we can come back and review and vote on the bill. If we are not off the floor by 04:30, we're gonna have to fit it in first thing in the morning tomorrow. So we may just delay the first couple of witnesses by ten minutes or so and see if we can get Jen at least get a copy of the bill. Because I think we had finished all the other edits of the bill. So we were just looking at this final piece. And I think Doug's provided us with some good language and good resolution on that. So will Once Jen gets that and if she can get it back to us by 04:30, and if we are off the floor by 04:30, then we'll come look at it. If not, we'll do it in the morning. And then I realized that the other resolution that I sent you, I did not send you. It's in my drafts. So I will send it to you when I get back to the floor. And we can act on that one as well. Okay? Everybody good? All right.

[Unidentified committee member]: It looks like we might have more time. We just got

[Rep. Theresa Wood (Chair)]: an We'll be caucusing after- We are gonna caucus now? Yeah. First she said she was gonna caucus. All right. Okay. Now I have time to slip through. All right. So I think that we are.

[Rep. Doug Bishop (Member)]: So you go by Jen with two Ns or one N?

[Rep. Theresa Wood (Chair)]: One N. Just do Carby's. Carby, yeah.

[Rep. Doug Bishop (Member)]: So I know I can find it though when I'm saying.

[Rep. Theresa Wood (Chair)]: Oh, I just do Jen, one. Oh, when typing your email, type in your email, yeah.

[Rep. Doug Bishop (Member)]: I'm glad that's on record.

[Rep. Theresa Wood (Chair)]: I'll make sure she goes back and watch Okay, Laurie, I think we are all set to go off.
