[Matthew Birong (Chair)]: I think we're live. I was gonna start singing this song. Alright. Good morning, everyone. It is Wednesday, April 22, 09:50. We are picking up first order of business, h nine five six, an act relating to approval of an amendment to the charter of the city of Burlington relating to the office of racial equity and belonging. We have taken a couple rounds of testimony on this. Everything we heard seems to be very amenable to the words on the page as presented. So we are scheduled to vote. Any discussion, comments, further input, or curiosities

[Robert Hooper (Member)]: at this stage of the game? The only comment I would have was at the end of my policing years, that initiative was undertaken. It was new. There were all sorts of public opinion that rose out of it. But the installation, the planning and the installation of the service to community was such that it has survived to hear what it was that we heard yesterday from its beginning. And if you could pause to imagine a police organization dealing with a new intervention in community, everyone very quickly became aware of the value for those incidences that we would have otherwise, where there might be complaints of deprivation, not enough service of the police, that their voices were heard. So, my recollection is one of appreciation. Thanks.

[Matthew Birong (Chair)]: Thank you for that member. Yeah, think that's a great tee up to ask for a motion.

[Lisa Hango (Vice Chair)]: I'll I'll motion. And also, as I say, VL asked a very good question. Like, oh, is this a new thing? That proves it's not. It's been around for a long time. So, I like a motion to pass as is written.

[Lucy Boyden (Clerk)]: Yeah. Alright.

[Matthew Birong (Chair)]: Motion is you find favorable, hold number. 95956 as introduced. Or call a roll.
