[Peter Conlon (Chair)]: Welcome to House Education on May 28. The committee is gathered to vote on the Senate amendment to H. Nine thirty one, the miscellaneous ed bill. Just to remind everybody, this passed out of here and there, here, the committee out there on the House floor unanimously. Just gonna run through what we passed out very quickly. We had the adjustment to the moratorium on new independent schools to make that small adjustment for therapeutic schools that are being purchased. We have the Interstate, the Education Commission of the States Interstate Compact. It's a little too far here. Sorry, Scroll really fast. We had as well the criminal background checks on agency of education employees. We to add a little bit more on that. And that's it. That's what that's what passed out of here for us.

[Unidentified Member (House Education Committee)]: We did also have the section on changing the states about or the class size minimums that the Senate took.

[Peter Conlon (Chair)]: The Senate pulled that out and put that stuff Okay. Into September So that leaves the Intercollegiate Sexual Harm Prevention Council. This package was really agreed to outside of the legislature by all parties and is really designed to make what has been a somewhat anemic organization be reactivated and much more effective. The next one of all of these is section six, This is the Hazing, Harassment and Bullying Advisory Council. That presentation that is adjusting the advisory council's membership, Expanding it. Period. We had that proposal. We had the very small part that is Section eight, which is the energy performance contracting, which would change 16 BSA. Just to make very clear that within the energy performance contracting section, that a cost saving measure means any facility improvement, repair, addition, that's the whole part of the section, or alteration or any equipment fixture, blah, blah, blah. So I should make clear that an addition can also be included when doing energy performance contracting. And then we just have the effective date. Do we have any questions on on any of that? Yes. No. But the other representative along this side his way. Yes. Okay. I'll vamp for a little bit. So, would just remind everybody this eight sections of bill. Each one is individual, has all the merit. I know that we talked about the appropriation for the HHB expansion probably would never be used to that level because most of the people would be attending as part of their job. That was a $21,000 appropriation, and it is accounted for in the budget. This should be, by the way, our final meeting to conduct business. I really have panic right now.

[Unidentified Member (House Education Committee)]: So when the Committee of Conference report is finished on H nine fifty five, does this committee have to meet on

[Peter Conlon (Chair)]: it again? I'm pretty confident that these are confident for those four traits before. Somebody asked a question about some of these sections.

[Unidentified Member (House Education Committee)]: Can we add more sections before it's done? No. Only if you wanted to go back to

[Peter Conlon (Chair)]: the segment. Thank you. That's an excellent question. Yesterday, I had a member ask me about putting an amendment on this, to which I counsel that that would kill the bill. And that is because if we amend it, it has to go back to the Senate to be considered. It would probably take it a day to get there. And there may not be any Senate over there to respond to it, which would take everything out. Other questions?

[Unidentified Member (House Education Committee)]: Did we get all the comments right?

[Peter Conlon (Chair)]: I think that they're in good shape. Don't we leave the room for a minute while we wait for a case to come if you don't mind, and then we'll come right back.

[Unidentified Member (House Education Committee)]: So go up, Jana?

[Peter Conlon (Chair)]: Or just mute us. Just mute the room. Yeah, and we'll keep it live. Okay, are back now that we are all present for the final vote of the twenty twenty six House Education Committee. This is a straw poll on concurring with the Senate's amendment to H. Nine thirty one, the miscellaneous Ed bill. All those in favor, please raise your hand. And what a way to end the House Education Committee 2020 Thank six you all very much.
